Sugar Fast Day 19

Lately I have been feeling weary. Not so much from too much to do, but from mental fatigue. I am a creative and my mind is alway “on”. I am always thinking about new ideas and pondering. Sometimes it is difficult to shut my mind off and shut down. But I need to. We all need time to rest. We all need time resting in God.
I love the way God communicates with me. This past week He has been hammering home to me the fact that I need to stop, rest and allow Him to be God. I use a daily planner called Arise Devotional Planner. One of the things I love about this planner is the weekly Bible verse it give me to focus on. This week’s verse is one of my favorites:
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:10)
God must think this is an important verse for me to meditate on right now because He keeps telling me. I lead worship in my church, Christ Community EFC, which means part of what I do is choose music for each week’s service. The sermon this coming Sunday is focused on Psalm 46:10 (Be still and know that I am God). But God isn’t done driving home His point. Today’s praise chapter in this challenge is about turning to God for rest.
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)
Worship and Resting in God
A couple of years back I read The 30 Day Praise Challenge Becky Harling. It made an interesting statement. She said, part of worship is allowing yourself to rest in God’s presence…Allow yourself to receive the rest and refreshment that come from worshipping Him.
So today I am sharing a song I found about being still and letting God be God.
Be still and know that I am God.
Be still, be still, I am your God.
The nations know Your matchless name
The earth resounds with thunderous praise
The rocks and trees declare that you are God
The human race cannot contain
The glory from your throne of grace
So here we stand, still, before you God
In awe of You, in awe of You
We bow to You, we bow to You
From age to age your Kingdom knows no end.
