Choosing a Bible My Sugar Fast Journey

Sugar Fast Day 23

I know how important it is to ready God’s Word. But there are so many choices when it comes to choosing a Bible. This past weekend I followed God’s leading back to more time in His word.  I looked at my bookshelf, lined with several Bibles.  Most of them have nothing written in them and you can’t tell by looking at them if they have even been read.  I do have a couple of journaling Bibles as well.  Each one has different notes, written at different times.

I also have dozens of Bibles in my Bible app. I have a myriad of notes and highlights.  Pulling up the highlights and notes in the app looks pretty cool.  They are color coded by theme, organized by topic, but pursuing the array of Bibles on my shelves and in my app gives me a headache. It feels cluttered and disorganized.  Am I actually a Bible hoarder?

Choosing a Bible

I want one main Bible. My main study Bible with room for notes and highlights and reminders from God.  I want to actually be able to find the verses I have hidden in my heart.  So last weekend I began my quest for my “perfect Bible”.  Here is my criteria:

  • A literal translation ( I like HCSB and ESV)
  • A journaling Bible
  • Large print (9 pt font or larger)
  • Purple in color (I know, I know)

I am happy to report that with a little help from my friend (go ahead and sing along), I found it!!! I also found a Bible pen set that I LOVE!!!!
