Discipleship Starts at Home: 3 Ways to Pass on Your Faith

Discipleship starts at home, not in a classroom or a church program—but around your kitchen table, through your prayers, and in your daily life. As Christian women, especially in our later years, we are uniquely positioned to leave a strong, faith-filled legacy for the generations following us.

For me, discipleship means allowing Jesus to shape me through His Word. I spend time reading and studying the Bible, praying, and listening in silence so I can hear His voice. That time with Him is what equips me to pass on my faith—even to loved ones who don’t yet believe.

You Don’t Need a Platform—You Just Need Purpose

If you’re wondering where to start, here are three simple ways to practice discipleship at home:

  • Be a woman of prayer. Let your family see and hear you pray. Pray for them by name and trust God with the results.
  • Study the Bible openly. Keep it visible. Let your children or grandchildren see you seeking God daily.
  • Live on purpose. Let your actions reflect the heart of Christ, even in how you speak, serve, and show love.

Deuteronomy 6:6–7 reminds us to talk about God’s truth in our homes and daily routines. You don’t need perfect words—just a faithful heart.

The Pressure Isn’t on You

If your loved ones aren’t responding, take heart. It’s not your job to change them—it’s your job to follow Jesus. Let Him shine through you, and trust Him with their hearts.

Discipleship starts at home. And you don’t have to do it alone.
