A New Place My Sugar Fast Journey

Sugar Fast Day 11

The LORD said to Abram: Go out from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. (Genesis 12:1)

the light of Jesus calling us to a new place

This morning I was reading Lysa Terkeurst’s Made To Crave Devotional.  She was talking about God asking her to go to a new place. For her it is a place of grace.  Over the last couple of years I, too, have felt God calling me to a new place.  But for me it is a place of creativity and obedience.

It wasn’t long ago when I realized that I am a creative who isn’t creating.  I would say that for the last couple of years this has been my truth.  I think the catalyst for this was the onset of the pandemic.  At that time I lost my work, my pastor and most importantly my Mom.  I was thrown into the urgency of taking care of my parents and my family.  There was NO time to be creative.  As the world came out of the pandemic I found new work, our church was blessed with a new pastor and I found people to help me take care of my Dad.  But my creative spark remained dark.

In that season I sensed God calling me back to a place of creativity. Those who know me know I am a musician and a song writer, but I enjoy other creative outlets as well: knitting, coloring, writing and quilting.  Looking back I can see that I did, indeed walk back into my creative space. I finished knitting an afghan and started a new crochet project, I returned to writing and performing music and as my creative journey continued, it has brought me to where I am today.

God’s call for me to meet a spiritual need in the residents I work with birthed Immortal Jellyfish Creations. Every day is now an opportunity for me to flex my creative muscles and follow God’s lead as He uses me to reach Christian women with His message of truth in a crowded, noisy world.
